This manual includes information about administration, resources and policies relating to the ASB Business Building, including the Carruthers Student Commons.
We would also like to emphasize the importance of fostering EDI within all student groups. Please take the time to review our Student Group EDI Policy.
The Annual Report details your groups activities over the past year.
This report is a requirement in order to be eligible to maintain and re-apply for ASB student group standing, and to receive funding from the Alberta School of Business.
If you are a new student group that would like to apply to be ASB affiliated and recognized, please review and complete the application procedure detailed in the document.
New ASB Student Group Applications will be considered and reviewed only from May 1 to July 31 of each year.
For Alberta School of Business current or new student group inquiries and information, please contact the Experiential Learning team at the Careers and Work Integrated Learning (CWIL) office.
Student groups recognized by the Alberta School of Business may apply for funding to support their events and initiatives. The BCom Funding Committee holds two application cycles:
Fall 2024: Opens Aug 1, 2024. Closes Sept 23, 2024
Winter 2025: Opens Dec 4, 2024. Closes Jan 6, 2025
Student organizations are encouraged to apply for funding during the Fall access period, regardless of when the event/initiative is scheduled to take place.
Limited funding opportunities are available through the CWIL office for student groups recognized by the Alberta School of Business. Funding requests must align with our goal of promoting professional skill development through experiential learning activities.
Various options for funding sources are compiled on our ASB Student Group Funding Opportunities document, and there may be other sources which are not included there.
The ASB Development team is available to support student groups through advising services in the areas of fundraising and donor stewardship. The team can help support and guide the efforts of each group in securing funding to advance their vision for the year, and ensure that donors and sponsors are stewarded appropriately.
Consistency with delivering strong stewardship results will benefit the group, as well as the School, for future successes with student and donor partnerships. Student group fundraising guidance inquiries can be directed to Melissa Kastelic.
